The Dog Run Boys – It’s hard to believe, but The Dog Run Boys are now in their fourth decade of playing bluegrass together. Their original intent was to create a distinct brand of bluegrass music borrowing from all their musical influences: contemporary folk, roots rock, pop, jazz, western swing and traditional folk and bluegrass. The result was, and still remains, a sound that ’s all their own.

In the last few years, The Dog Run Boys have played primarily in their native Western Pennsylvania. Highlights include releasing their third critically acclaimed recording, Fresh Tracks, performing with Marvin Hamlish, and the Pittsburgh Pops, entertaining the United States Democratic Senators and being a featured band at the 2002 Johnstown Folk Festival.

Members of the band include three of the original members, Bernie Cunningham on mandolin and guitar, Rick Malis on guitar, Don Shean on banjo and fiddle and second generation Dog Run Boy, Ted Sohier on bass.
